Humidity Control Panels Keep Walk-in Food Cooler at Local Restaurant
More Efficient and Keeps Vegetables Fresher
Baja
California Restaurant in Dallas, Texas used to have problems with
their food cooler not defrosting the way they wanted it to, and
it did not keep as cold as the ideal situation. The extra condensation
on the coils caused stress on the compressor which caused the need
for regular maintenance. Then, when they installed the Humitech
Humidity Control Panels about three months ago, the panels helped
eliminate the condensation on the coils and kept the walk-in cooler
colder. With the food cooler keeping colder because of the panels,
the restaurant did not have to adjust the temperature. The coils
also did not get frosted up with the panels.
"Now
we worry a lot less about the food cooler," said Luke Ptak, owner
and operator of Baja California. "We can leave the restaurant at
night without worrying about the temperature of the cooler in the
morning. When the coils used to frost up, it caused stress on the
compressor and air conditioner, but now those are working a lot
less and maintenance has greatly been reduced. Our produce is crisper.
And with people going in and out of the cooler all the time, the
panels have kept the temperature from being a problem."
Ptak
stated he had never heard of the natural mineral, Sorbite, that
is used in the panels before being contacted by Humitech. "But I
am willing to try anything once to create more efficiency," says
Ptak. "Now I have less spoilage of the produce because of the panels
and the lettuce, for instance, lasts at least two days longer. I
would definitely recommend this to other owners and operators of
restaurants." Ptak continued that he has half the trouble as in
the past since the cooler does not frost up anymore.
Humitech's
objective is to provide an exclusive product to help clients increase
the quality, and extend the shelf life of all perishables. Their
panels' unique natural mineral Sorbite absorbs and desorbs up to
48% its weight in moisture. This extends the shelf life of produce,
meat, fish, poultry and flowers.
